Born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii.
BFA -  advertising:  California State University, Long Beach.
MFA - film:  Art Center, Pasadena
Former Art Director: Deutsch, J. Walter Thompson, Foote, Cone and Belding and McCann Erickson.

Steven has directed commercials for clients such as: Toyota, McDonalds, Verizon, Sprite, CBS Sports, ABC Sports, ESPN, AVIS and Sprite. For his efforts he has earned advertising accolades from Cannes, the Clio Awards and The Steven Tsuchida Advertising Awards of America.

Steven's two short films, A Ninja Pays Half My Rent and Spam-ku: I won a haiku contest about spam have played in over 100 festivals, including:  Sundance, SXSW, New Directors/New films at the Lincoln Center, Deauville Film Festival, Edinburgh and the HBO U.S. Comedy Arts Festival. Steven has earned a place on Filmmaker Magazine’s annual 25 Filmmakers To Watch List. His television directing credits include the Comedy Central hits, The Sarah Silverman Program and American Body Shop.

Steven currently lives in Los Angeles perfecting his hummus recipe and cultivating a round banana.
